About me

I am Anurag, the publisher of this website. I am starting this initiative to motivate myself and others. Throughout my personal and professional journey, I have been deeply passionate about data and analytics, and I have always been a keen writer on LinkedIn and Medium. Whenever I got time, I wrote about my thoughts, experiences and past projects so that I can spread my learning in the community. I thought about publishing the blogs on my website so that through this platform, I can be more proactive in publishing content as well as helping the community through their data journey. Professionally, I have worked across various areas including data analytics, data strategy, AI, reporting, business intelligence, and strategy consulting.

Well, my journey began in New Delhi, India wherein I was born in a working class family. Starting my life in a small family, I have been brought up with the belief of fighting hard to achieve anything in life. Even early in my school days, I knew that I wanted to do engineering post my schooling. So, after my schooling, I went for Electrical engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering. My first full-time professional stint was at Wipro Technologies in their Artificial Intelligence team. I made really good and really smart friends there. I realized how life can be different away from home as I had travelled to another state for the first time in my life. It was a short, yet an amazing experience.

Subsequently , I moved into the world of consulting when I joined ZS Associates in the data, analytics and strategy team. This was my actually my inflection point in the data world. This stint shaped my thought process, led to my growth and learning and made me passionate about driving stories through data. Over the course of 3.5 years, I worked on data analytics, business intelligence, reporting and advanced analytics problems. Beyond work, I made strong & long lasting connections and amazing relationships with my mentors, and friends.

I moved to the UK in 2021 to pursue my masters in Analytics from Warwick Business School. Well, disruption was my best friend here as I left a really good job in my country to achieve something different in life in the world of analytics. I can say that this experience was filled with highly steep learning curve, super different lifestyle, a lot of new exploration which I had never envisioned and some things that I will carry forever through my life journey. It was not easy at all, but it was magical... magical when I look back and connect the dots. It is here when I realized the magical experiences are not all amazing, they are filled with hardships, struggles and uncertainties which, if curated optimistically, then comes bearing with gifts.

I never planned for it, but I re-joined ZS Associates in London office post my masters. Maybe, I had too good of an experience in the New Delhi office! So, in this role, I did a lot of different things from data strategy, to analytics, strategy consulting, business development and much more. I have worked on a broad range of client case studies, which are not only unstructured but also quite very rich and immersive. This stint has actually taught me more than I had realized at any given moment. From being in uncertain situations, to tackling multiple projects and workstreams and making the best out of any given situation at the time. Overall, this role has played its part in making me a better data professional from a strategic lens, and a better person too.

Post ZS, I joined the pharma company: Gilead Sciences in the London office and worked in the Commercial data and analytics team leading multi-country analytics initiatives. I learnt so much from this experience - from being in highly technical discussions, to leading large scale projects independently, and working with my stakeholder partners who come with such rich and amazing experiences. This stint has been superb and has given me immersive learning experiences!! Especially, in context of the relationships I built here with my team and stakeholders.

Currently, I work at ViiV Healthcare, the only company in the world solely working on ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and majority owned by the pharma company: GSK. I lead the advanced analytics workstreams for Medical Affairs globally. I live in London and I love to explore different parts of this beautiful place as I am sure that I haven't even seen the half of it.
